Implementation is Key

When we 'think' we know what we're doing...

Over the holidays I hired my caravan out through an 'AirBnB for Caravans' site to someone who was looking for an affordable holiday. Because I was going away myself, I asked a friend to help me out by picking my van up at the end of the hire period.

Given caravans can be a little temperamental I decided to film a few 'Instructional videos' to help him with the pack up.

So I grabbed my phone and daughter, and off I went...

Now, the awning and I have a love/hate relationship - putting it up and taking it down is something I've never taken the time to truly 'anchor' as a skill. I often fumble my way through and pray for the best!!!

On this day of filming...I got it wrong!

I knew 'roughly' what was needed, however let's say I didn't 'execute' too well.

‍After the PAIN wore off it got me thinking.

This is how I help business leaders with their team culture. (No I don't jam their arms until they do as I say)

My clients are smart people. They know when there's something not quite right with their team.

They might even have a 'rough idea' of what to do.

Some will even give it a go.

However because they aren't experienced in the 'nuances' of team dynamics they'll often fumble their way through and not execute the best way possible.

Sometimes they get the order wrong.

Other times they miss the important steps.

Or possibly don't execute it in the best fashion.

Unfortunately this will result in no change at all or, potentially make things worse, and 'hurt their reputation' in the process!!!

Having worked with teams for over 25 years, thankfully I'm little bit better at helping Leaders build great teams than what I am at rolling in caravan awnings.
